Josh,

Being a Rolfer for 30 years, I am very aware of how tense people can be and with that how hard it is to "work on posture." First, most of what were told about posture is wrong. Second, most people are so tense that to really get it or get it quickly and easily they need help. I found the best way to remove chronic tension is Rolfing. You can go to my Rolfing site: www.align.org to learn more about Rolfing.

Yoga and Mindfulness Stress Reduction Programs have been known to help.

You are not alone. Working out of the box will help - don't give up.

I have been working on my posture for some time and it's always very tense, Specifically in the shoulders/neck and lumbar area. I also find it nearly impossible to relax these areas. Have any suggestions?

Great post Owen. Our posture is such a window into our state of mind. And, as you say, they create each other. Have you seent the Charlie brown comic where he talks about his depressed stance? It's a good one.

I'll post it on my site.
